APA, Nigeria – At least 10 people are feared dead following a
late-night attack on Ankpali community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue
State on April 12, 2026, according to local sources.
Armed assailants stormed the rural community
late Sunday, killing over 10 residents. Several others remain missing as search
efforts continue. The attack forced many families to flee their homes,
abandoning properties amid panic.
Residents described the situation as
“heartbreaking” and expressed frustration over what they perceive as inadequate
security response from authorities. Benue State has experienced repeated
violent attacks in recent years, particularly in rural communities, leading to
displacement, loss of life, and rising tension.
No official statement from security forces had been issued at the time of reporting. The attack adds Ankpali to a growing list of Benue communities grappling with recurring violence and uncertainty.
