Air Peace, Nigeria's largest domestic carrier, has temporarily suspended its Lagos–London Gatwick flight after a minor technical fault was detected following the boarding of passengers on Friday.

In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Oluwatoyin Olajide, the airline confirmed that the fault was identified during routine pre-departure checks after passengers had already been seated. As a precautionary measure, the flight was suspended, and all passengers were safely disembarked.

"At Air Peace, safety is not negotiable. We will never compromise on the safety of our passengers and crew. The technical issue identified was minor, but our standard operating procedures require that any anomaly, no matter how small, be resolved before departure. We apologise for the inconvenience and have made arrangements to rebook all affected passengers on the next available flight," Olajide said.

The airline confirmed that affected passengers were provided with hotel accommodation, meals, and transportation. A replacement aircraft has been deployed, and the flight is expected to operate today.

Air Peace launched its Lagos–London route earlier this year, becoming the first Nigerian airline to operate direct flights to Gatwick Airport. The route has been popular, and the airline has positioned it as a flagship offering that demonstrates the capability of Nigerian carriers.

Aviation analysts say the prompt and transparent handling of the incident reflects positively on the airline's safety culture, which is under increasing scrutiny as Nigerian carriers expand into international markets.
