The 2026 Nigeria National League Super Four kicks off today at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, pitting the four promotion-chasing sides against each other in a season-ending tournament that carries a winner’s prize of N10 million and significant bragging rights.

The four teams Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, Doma United, and Ranchers Bees, secured their places in the Super Four by finishing as the top sides in their respective conferences. The tournament format involves a round-robin phase followed by a final on 7 May, with every match broadcast live on partner platforms.

Speaking ahead of the opening fixture, NNL Chairman George Aluo said the Super Four concept was part of a deliberate effort to increase the commercial appeal and competitive intensity of Nigeria’s second-tier league. “We want to make the NNL a product that attracts fans, sponsors, and media attention. A championship playoff at a beautiful venue like Remo Stars Stadium is a step in that direction,” Aluo said.

Sporting Lagos, who only recently gained promotion to the professional ranks and already have a dedicated grassroots following, are considered the team to beat. Their manager, Paul Offor, told journalists they aim to “cap a beautiful season with silverware.” Inter Lagos, the second Lagos-based club, promise to be formidable opponents, while Gombe-based Doma United and Kano’s Ranchers Bees bring northern flair and physicality.

The tournament also serves as an audition for players seeking moves to Nigeria Professional Football League clubs, with scouts expected to be in attendance. Organisers have arranged for fans in Ikenne to access free entry to the group stage games to encourage attendance.
