Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has moved swiftly to reinforce his squad ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup in London, handing late call-ups to Belgian-based winger Yira Sor and NPFL defender Tijani Al Ameen.
The call-ups, announced by the Nigeria Football Federation on Friday, follow the news that Swedish club AIK will not release promising winger Zadok Yohanna for the invitational tournament, citing the player's ongoing rehabilitation from injury.
Yira Sor, who plays for KAA Gent in Belgium, brings pace, dribbling ability, and top-level European experience to the squad. Al Ameen, a standout performer in the Nigeria Professional Football League, will provide defensive depth.
The Unity Cup, a four-nation tournament featuring Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, will be held in London from 26 to 30 May. It serves as preparation for the Super Eagles' upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Coach Chelle has emphasised the importance of building squad depth and testing new combinations.
The Super Eagles are expected to depart for London early next week.
Prime Brief Media will provide further updates on team performances and competition standings throughout the season.
