ABUJA, NIGERIA — A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party and others from participating in the 2027 general elections over alleged constitutional breaches.

Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered INEC to deregister the ADC, Accord Party, Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The ruling delivered by Justice Lifu ordered INEC to deregister the ADC, Accord Party, Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's bid for the presidency in the 2027 general election took a major hit as the ADC was his platform.

The court ruled that the parties failed to meet constitutional requirements, including winning elections or securing enough votes in presidential polls.
