Governor Abdullahi A. Sule has officially flagged off the distribution of 20,160 bags of fertiliser to farmers across Nasarawa State under the Federal Government Farm Input Support Programme (FISP).
The distribution, which took place in Lafia on Monday, marks Phase One of the 2026 Renewed Hope Farm Input Programme for the wet-season farming cycle and is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving food security in the state.
The fertiliser allocation was facilitated by the Nasarawa State Ministry of Agriculture as part of the Federal Government's support for farmers during the 2026 farming season.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting farmers through programmes and partnerships designed to increase crop yields and strengthen the state's agricultural sector.
The governor urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the farm inputs to enhance food production and contribute to the state's economic growth.
The Farm Input Support Programme forms part of the Federal Government's broader agricultural intervention initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to improve farmers' access to essential agricultural inputs, reduce production costs, and promote sustainable food production nationwide.
Agriculture remains one of the key pillars of Nasarawa State's economy, with the government continuing to invest in initiatives that encourage increased cultivation and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
The distribution of the fertiliser is expected to benefit thousands of farmers across the state's local government areas as preparations for the 2026 wet-season farming intensify.
