In a recent operation, troops from Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) successfully neutralized a suspected bandit during a clearance mission in the Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation kicked off around 7:00 a.m. on June 26, following reports of armed livestock rustlers spotted near the Gero high grounds.
As the troops were intercepting a herd of cattle grazing on cultivated farmland, they came under fire from suspected militia members. Fortunately, reinforcements arrived just in time to engage the attackers, resulting in the neutralization of one bandit.
According to the military, "A search of the area led to the recovery of two mobile phones and N14,000, which is believed to have been left behind by the fleeing suspects."
The recovered cattle were safely relocated to a secure area.
The military emphasized that this operation is part of their ongoing commitment to eliminate criminal elements and safeguard farming communities from attacks and livestock theft.
Operation Enduring Peace reassured the public that they will continue their determined efforts and decisive actions to clear the highways and communities of criminal activities.
