MAKURDI, Benue State - Professor Gabriel Nyityo, a lecturer in the Department of History at Benue State University (BSU), has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Adaka, Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, sending shockwaves through the academic community, colleagues, students, and residents of the area.
Witnesses said the assailants attacked the professor at his residence before fleeing the scene.
The motive behind the killing was not immediately known.
Images from the scene showed sympathizers, neighbours, and concerned residents gathered outside the late professor's residence in Adaka following the tragic incident.
