Three suspects, including two children of the deceased, have been arraigned by the FCT Police over the alleged murder of businessman Adimike Godwin in Abuja's Guzape District.
ABUJA, FCT — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arraigned three suspects before the FCT High Court in connection with the alleged murder of businessman Adimike Godwin, whose death in Abuja's Guzape District shocked residents earlier this year.
The defendants, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade were brought before FCT High Court 13 on multiple charges following the conclusion of police investigations into the May 15 incident.
The court subsequently ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings and adjourned the case until September 30, 2026.
How the Incident Unfolded
According to the FCT Police Command, the case began on May 15, 2026, after officers at the Guzape Divisional Headquarters received a distress report from a relative who said repeated attempts to contact Adimike Godwin had failed.
Police detectives who responded to the residence reportedly found the victim lying unconscious inside his room with multiple stab wounds.
He was immediately taken to Karu General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
The incident triggered a homicide investigation led by detectives of the FCT Police Command under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi.
Investigation Led to Multiple Arrests
Police said a comprehensive investigation resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including the deceased's driver and gateman.
However, after reviewing evidence gathered during the investigation, prosecutors filed charges against three of the suspects while the others were not included in the current court proceedings.

The three defendants are facing a four-count charge bordering on alleged criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Adimike Godwin.
According to the police, prosecutors also filed additional charges under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act against the defendants.
Police alleged that Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony was separately charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged under the same legislation.
The court has not determined the merits of these allegations, and the defendants remain presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty through the judicial process.
Court Orders Remand
Following their arraignment, the trial judge ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned until September 30, 2026, when the court is expected to continue hearing the case.
