BOKKOS, PLATEAU STATE — Suspected gunmen have killed three miners in a fresh attack along the GSS Daffo Road in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, raising renewed concerns over security in the area.
The attack reportedly occurred at about 7:15 p.m. on Thursday as the victims were returning from a mining site in Fubok, Daffo District.
According to local sources, the assailants ambushed the miners and opened fire, killing three people on the spot.
The victims were identified as:
Maren Agom, 45, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head;
Joe Buba, 38, who was shot in the chest; and
Yellow, whose surname and age could not be immediately confirmed.
Residents said the incident has heightened fear among community members, many of whom depend on mining and farming for their livelihoods.
Security personnel have reportedly been deployed to the area and have commenced efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.
