Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has approved the release of more than ₦7 billion to pay gratuities, death benefits and other retirement entitlements while sustaining monthly funding to clear outstanding arrears.

JALINGO, TARABA STATE – July 4, 2026

The Taraba State Government has approved the release of more than ₦7 billion for the payment of gratuities, death benefits and other retirement entitlements owed to retired public servants and the families of deceased workers.

The development was announced in a statement issued in Jalingo by the Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, who said the approval was granted by Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas as part of his administration's commitment to improving workers' welfare and clearing inherited liabilities.

According to the commissioner, the funds will cover outstanding gratuities, death benefits and other retirement entitlements, while the government will also continue monthly funding dedicated to settling the remaining backlog of unpaid benefits.

The state government said the initiative reflects Governor Kefas' determination to ensure that retired civil servants receive their lawful entitlements without unnecessary delays.

The administration noted that regular funding for retirement obligations would be sustained to gradually eliminate outstanding arrears and provide financial relief to pensioners and the families of deceased employees.

Officials expressed confidence that the payment would ease the hardship faced by many beneficiaries and strengthen public confidence in the state's commitment to workers' welfare.

Prime Brief Media will continue to monitor the implementation of the payments and provide updates as more details become available.
