Three persons have been killed following a fresh attack by suspected gunmen on Torok community in Rim District of Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, deepening concerns over the persistent security challenges confronting communities in the area.
The attack reportedly occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, forcing residents to flee for safety as gunmen opened fire on the community.
The victims were identified as Ezekiel Zakka, David Yakubu, and Dauda Habila.
A resident of the community, Albert Tok, said the attackers stormed Torok and began shooting indiscriminately before escaping.
The latest incident has thrown the community into mourning and renewed fears among residents who have experienced repeated attacks in recent years.

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, on behalf of the National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, the association expressed condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Torok community and the entire Berom Nation.
The group said the latest attack was another painful reminder of the persistent insecurity confronting Berom communities, lamenting that innocent citizens continued to lose their lives while perpetrators allegedly escaped justice.
BYM urged security agencies to immediately launch a comprehensive manhunt for those responsible and ensure they are arrested and prosecuted.
The association also appealed to the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government to move beyond routine condemnations by implementing practical measures to protect vulnerable communities.
According to the group, such measures should include improved intelligence gathering, sustained deployment of security personnel to identified flashpoints and the dismantling of criminal hideouts allegedly used to launch attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokespersons of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, and Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Polycarp Oteh, had not responded to requests for comments or official confirmation of the incident.
