Twenty-seven victims of the recent attack on Naridon community in Southern Kaduna have been buried in a mass grave, as residents mourn and demand improved security.
NARIDON, KADUNA STATE — Grief and sorrow engulfed Naridon Village in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Saturday as 27 victims of a deadly attack were buried in a mass grave amid tears and calls for justice.
The mass burial drew hundreds of mourners, including family members, community leaders, religious figures and residents, who gathered to pay their final respects to those killed in the attack.
According to community sources, three other victims had been buried earlier, bringing the reported death toll to 30. However, the final casualty figure has not been independently verified, and authorities are yet to issue an updated official statement.
Scenes from the burial ceremony showed rows of caskets lined up as grieving families struggled to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones.
Several households reportedly lost multiple family members in the attack, leaving parents, children, siblings and neighbours mourning together.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the security challenges facing rural communities in Southern Kaduna, where repeated attacks have left many residents living in fear.
Residents and community leaders have renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further violence.
