The FCT Police Command secures the conviction of siblings Yau Sule and Mariya Sule for supplying ammunition to kidnappers across the North Central region, with both sentenced to 250 days' imprisonment without option of fine.

The FCT Police Command has secured the conviction of two suspects, Yau Sule and Mariya Sule, following an intelligence-led operation that linked the pair to the unlawful supply of ammunition to kidnappers and other criminal networks operating across the North Central region and the Federal Capital Territory.
Yau Sule was arrested on June 2, 2026, while in transit along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway. Police operatives recovered 81 rounds of live 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition and 100 rounds of belted 7.62mm ammunition for a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) during the operation. Further investigation led to the arrest of his sister, Mariya Sule, who was also found to be involved in the ammunition supply network.
Both suspects were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 1, Dutse-Alhaji, FCT, under charge number CR/DUT/1132/2026, where they were convicted of unlawful possession of live ammunition.
In separate warrants dated August 24, 2026, the court sentenced Yau Sule and Mariya Sule to 250 days' imprisonment each, without an option of fine, with both sentences to be served at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
The FCT Police Command said the conviction reflects its continued commitment to dismantling criminal networks that supply weapons and ammunition fueling kidnapping and banditry across the FCT and neighbouring North Central states, a supply chain that security agencies across the region, including in Benue and Plateau, have repeatedly identified as a key enabler of the sustained violence affecting rural communities.
