The Benue State Police Command presented insurance cheques to families of deceased police officers at the Command Headquarters in Makurdi on Monday, as part of ongoing efforts by the Inspector-General of Police to support the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, presented the cheques personally, conveying condolences and warm regards from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu to the bereaved families over the loss of their loved ones.
Nwadiogbu acknowledged that no sum of money can truly compensate for the loss of a loved one, but said the insurance benefits are intended to provide some measure of relief and support during a difficult time.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, particularly to address immediate family needs and support the welfare of the deceased officers' children.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, and pledged continued support for IGP-led initiatives aimed at assisting officers and families affected by loss in the course of duty.
