Suspected Herdsmen Burn School, Destroy Seed Yams in Benue Community

 



LOGO, Nigeria – Suspected Fulani herdsmen set fire to a classroom block at L.G.E.A Primary School in Akombo, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, on April 8, 2026, according to local sources. 

The attack, which occurred in the evening, severely damaged the school infrastructure and destroyed seed yams stored nearby. Residents reported hearing gunshots during the incident, prompting many to flee. 

No casualties were reported. The area near Anyiin has experienced recurring security concerns, with farmers expressing fear over access to farmlands due to suspected attacks in surrounding communities.

 “We thank God that no life was lost, but there is growing uncertainty about returning to our farms in the affected areas,” said Comr. Hulega Keghter Kenneth, Media Coordinator of the AYBG. 

Authorities had not issued an official statement as of the time of reporting. Residents are calling for urgent security intervention.
