The All Progressives Grand Alliance has cleared 155 aspirants to contest primary elections for various elective positions in Anambra State as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
APGA National Publicity Secretary, Tex Okechukwu, confirmed the clearance in a statement on Friday. He said the aspirants, who had been screened by the party's electoral committee, will contest for seats in the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and the governorship.
"The party is satisfied with the quality and calibre of aspirants. We are committed to providing a level playing field for all. Our primaries will be free, fair, and transparent," Okechukwu said.
APGA has governed Anambra State since 2006 and remains the dominant political force in the state. The party's governorship primary is expected to be keenly contested, with several aspirants already campaigning.
The clearance of aspirants marks the formal commencement of the nomination phase for the party in the state. Okechukwu urged all aspirants to conduct their campaigns with decorum and to respect the outcome of the primaries.
