Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has scoffed at the figures declared in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary, where President Bola Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes, describing them as grossly inflated and not reflective of the party's true electoral strength.
Atiku spoke on Monday after casting his vote in the African Democratic Congress presidential primary. He said the APC's figures were designed to intimidate the opposition and create a false sense of inevitability around the President's re-election bid. "Nigerians are not fools. They know the difference between manufactured numbers and genuine support. In 2027, they will vote out this administration," Atiku said.
The former Vice President, who is seeking the ADC ticket along with Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, said the opposition must remain united and focused on the issues of insecurity, economic hardship, and unemployment. He expressed confidence that the ADC would present a formidable challenge to both the APC and the PDP.
The APC has defended its primary figures, stating that the direct election format and the participation of millions of registered party members produced the numbers organically.
