FCT OPERATION SWEEP INTENSIFIES SECURITY AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS, SALLAHse

Abuja, FCT – By Prime Brief Media

As the Federal Capital Territory braces for increased activity ahead of the 2027 elections and the upcoming Sallah celebrations, the joint security task force Operation Sweep FCT has intensified its operations against criminal elements.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, briefed journalists on Friday, stating that the operation, reactivated in November 2025, brings together personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other paramilitary agencies.

"We are leaving nothing to chance. The FCT must remain safe and secure for residents and visitors. We have recorded significant successes in recent months, including the arrest of kidnapping gangs and the recovery of arms. We will sustain this momentum," CP Sanusi said.

The operation covers all six area councils of the FCT, with particular attention to satellite towns and border communities where criminal activities have been reported. The police chief urged residents to report suspicious activities and assured them of the security agencies' commitment.

The FCT has experienced occasional security breaches, including kidnappings and armed robberies, prompting calls for a more robust security architecture.

Prime Brief Media will continue to track security and rescue efforts across the state as this story develops.
