President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the nation is emerging from a difficult period, declaring that "the dark tunnel is over" and that his administration's reforms are now yielding tangible improvements in security and economic stability.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to the nation on Wednesday, the President called on Muslims and all Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, unity, and compassion that define the festival. He said the government remains committed to securing every community, stabilising the economy, and creating opportunities for all citizens.
"The sacrifices we have made as a nation are beginning to bear fruit. Our economy is growing at its fastest pace in a decade. Our security forces are taking the fight to the terrorists. We are on the right path, and we will not turn back," President Tinubu said.
The President urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of the nation. He also called for prayers for wisdom for those in positions of leadership at all levels.
The Eid celebrations come as the military has intensified operations against terrorist groups, with the Defence Headquarters reporting that 317 terrorists were eliminated in nationwide operations during May. The economy recorded a GDP growth rate of 3.89 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, the fastest in a decade.
