Senate orders crackdown on bandits flaunting crime cash on TikTok

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu formally accepted the Certificate of Return and the party flag from the All Progressives Congress on Sunday, vowing to use his second term to accelerate the reforms his administration initiated in 2023.

The ceremony, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, was attended by APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, federal lawmakers, and thousands of party supporters. Former Senate President Pius Anyim, who chaired the Presidential Primary Election Committee, presented the certificate.

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda said the certificate represents "the voices of millions of APC supporters who turned out across 8,809 wards on Saturday to reaffirm their faith in the President's leadership." The primary was conducted as a direct election, with Tinubu securing 10,999,162 votes against his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,503.

In his acceptance speech, President Tinubu said the overwhelming mandate was not merely a vote of confidence but a call to redouble efforts. "This is a challenge to do more to deepen our economic reforms, to secure every community, and to build a Nigeria where no one is left behind. We will not rest," the President said.

Stanley Osifo, who conceded defeat even before the final collation, pledged loyalty to the party and the President, describing his participation as a contribution to internal democracy.

The 2027 general election is now shaping up as a contest between President Tinubu of the APC, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the NDC, former President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, with other candidates still emerging.
