MAKURDI, BENUE STATE — The rehabilitated former Ishaya Bakut Road has been officially renamed Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Road, as Governor Hyacinth Alia honoured the First Lady during her official visit to Benue State on Tuesday.

Governor Alia announced the renaming during the commissioning of 11 kilometers of roads and drainage channels within Makurdi that were rehabilitated and constructed by the state administration. He described Senator Oluremi Tinubu as a true friend of Benue and a distinguished First Lady of Nigeria.

The road renaming is part of the state government's efforts to honour individuals who have contributed significantly to the development of Benue State and Nigeria at large. The First Lady's visit to Benue comes as part of her ongoing tour of states to commission projects and engage with communities.

Following the ceremony in Makurdi, Governor Alia, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and members of her entourage returned to Makurdi Airport. From there, they boarded two Nigerian Air Force helicopters and proceeded to Ihugh in Vandeikya Local Government Area, where they commissioned and flagged off additional development projects.

The event formed part of the First Lady's official visit to Benue State and highlighted ongoing infrastructure and development efforts across the state. The projects commissioned in Ihugh are expected to improve the quality of life for residents and boost economic activities in the area.

Governor Alia, who has been a vocal supporter of the Tinubu administration, used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to infrastructural development and partnership with the federal government.
