Benue Police have arrested seven more suspects, including four traditional rulers, over the killing of MACBAN Chairman Ardo Risku Mohammed, bringing total arrests to 17.

The Benue State Police Command says it has arrested seven additional suspects including four traditional rulers and an 80-year-old man in connection with the killing of the state's Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed.
Police said the new arrests increase the total number of suspects currently in custody to 17 as investigations into the June 26 killings continue.
The latest operation followed intelligence-led investigations and tactical operations carried out in Otukpo Local Government Area.
Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed and Yakubu Isah were ambushed and killed while returning from a peace meeting held in Ohimini Local Government Area.
The meeting had reportedly focused on finding lasting solutions to security challenges affecting nearby communities.
The incident has remained one of the state's most closely watched criminal investigations.
The Benue State Police Command said investigations remain active and assured residents that anyone found to have participated in the killings would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu also appealed for continued public cooperation, urging residents to provide useful information that could assist investigators.
The investigation is viewed as a key test of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability and restore confidence in security operations across Benue State.
The outcome could also influence broader peace initiatives in communities affected by recurring violence.
