At least three people have reportedly been killed following a fresh outbreak of violence in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, with several villages set ablaze and hundreds of residents forced to flee their homes.
The latest incident reportedly occurred in Gwomu community, Bikwin Ward, where residents alleged that armed attackers, identified by local sources as suspected Fulani herders, clashed with members of the community.
According to reports from the area, the violence resulted in the deaths of three persons, while Bobbo, Weyam, and Bakau villages were reportedly razed during the attack.
The fresh violence triggered panic among residents, many of whom reportedly fled to neighbouring communities, including Bambuka, Dadiya, Loh, and Panya, seeking safety.
Community sources said many displaced families abandoned their homes and farmlands as fears of further attacks spread across the area.
Residents also alleged that there was no visible security presence in the affected communities from the onset of the violence until the following morning.

Concerns over recurring violence
The latest attack has renewed concerns about the recurring security challenges in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, which has witnessed repeated communal and farmer-herder-related violence in recent years.
Residents questioned why the area continues to experience deadly attacks despite improvements in security reported in several other parts of Taraba State.
Community leaders recalled that Karim Lamido was once regarded as one of the most peaceful local government areas in the state before insecurity escalated over the years.
Security analysts have attributed recurring conflicts in parts of the North Central and North-East regions to a combination of communal disputes, competition over land and grazing routes, criminal activities, and weak security presence in vulnerable rural communities.
