Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, foiled an attempted attack on Manja community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday, after receiving reports of armed men suspected to be planning an assault on the community.
According to security sources, troops moved swiftly into the area upon receiving the intelligence, forcing the suspected attackers to retreat into nearby bushland before the assault could be carried out.
Security forces subsequently carried out offensive patrols and clearance operations across the area to prevent further attempts to enter the community.
Sources said troops remain active around Manja and neighbouring communities, maintaining pressure on the suspected attackers to safeguard residents.
The operation adds to the intensified military presence in Mangu LGA following the relocation of the GOC 3 Division's tactical headquarters to the area and the launch of "Operation Hard Nut," underscoring the scale of the ongoing security response to the wave of attacks that has struck the LGA this month, including the Jwak Maitumbi and Binper killings.
