Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has responded sharply to criticisms levelled against him by Vice President Kashim Shettima, stating that the VP "doesn't have manners" and is not worthy of a response.

The exchange began when Shettima, at a campaign rally in Potiskum, Yobe State, challenged Atiku's record in office, accusing him of failing to deliver meaningful projects or empowerment to the North-East region during his tenure as vice president.

In response, Atiku, during an interview on GTA Hausa, said: "I will not respond to Kashim Shettima because he doesn't have manners. First, I'm not his mate; secondly, I have more experience in governance than him; and thirdly, it is not our culture in northern Nigeria to disrespect elders or accuse an elder unnecessarily."

"It is not in our blood in the North; therefore, I will not respond to him," Atiku added.

The verbal exchange underscores the growing political tension between key figures in the North as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
