Nigeria is poised to deploy artificial intelligence-powered surveillance systems and advanced anti-drone technology as part of a comprehensive push to modernise the nation's defence architecture, according to defence ministry sources.

The initiative, which has received presidential approval, aims to enhance border security, protect critical national infrastructure, and improve the military's rapid response capability against asymmetric threats including terrorism, banditry, and separatist violence. Defence officials say the integration of AI will enable real-time threat detection, predictive analytics, and more efficient deployment of security assets.
