Senate orders crackdown on bandits flaunting crime cash on TikTok

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that Nigeria's deepening socio-economic crisis requires experienced leadership and that the nation can no longer afford what he described as "experiments in governance."

Atiku made the assertion on Thursday while appearing before the screening panel of the African Democratic Congress at the party's national secretariat in Abuja. The former Vice President is seeking the ADC's presidential ticket for the 2027 election.

"I have been in this game long enough to understand the complexities of leading a country as diverse and challenged as Nigeria. We are facing unprecedented insecurity, unemployment that has turned our youth into a ticking time bomb, and investor confidence that is at an all-time low. Nigeria cannot afford another experiment. We need competence, experience, and a steady hand," Atiku told the panel.

The ADC is screening multiple presidential aspirants, including former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen. The party's primary is expected to be keenly contested, with the winner facing President Bola Tinubu of the APC and candidates from the PDP and NDC.
