Bandits kill seven, abduct 30 in fresh Kaduna attack

Kaduna, Kaduna State – By Prime Brief Media

Armed bandits have killed seven residents and abducted no fewer than 30 others in a night attack on Unguwar Mai-Jama'a village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack occurred on Thursday night when the assailants, riding on motorcycles and armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community and began shooting indiscriminately. Residents told Daily Trust that the attackers moved from house to house, seizing women, children, and the elderly before fleeing into the surrounding forests.

"Seven bodies have been recovered. Over 30 people, including my sister and her three children, were taken away. We are in mourning and in fear," a community elder told journalists.

The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed the attack and said security forces, including military units, have been deployed to the area. "We are pursuing the bandits. Our priority is to rescue the abducted persons and restore calm. We urge the public to provide any useful information," the Police Public Relations Officer said.

Kaduna has been one of the states most affected by banditry, with communities in Igabi, Birnin Gwari, and Chikun local government areas frequently targeted. The state government has pledged to support security agencies with resources and intelligence.

Prime Brief Media will continue to track security and rescue efforts across the state as this story develops.
