KOGI SENATOR DARES GOVERNOR ODODO AHEAD OF 2027

Lokoja, Kogi State – By Prime Brief Media

The political temperature in Kogi State has risen sharply after a serving senator threw down the gauntlet to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, declaring that he will not be muscled out of the race for the Kogi East Senatorial District ticket of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.

The senator, who spoke on condition of anonymity while the primary process is ongoing, told journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday that "the battle line has been drawn" and that "no one, no matter how highly placed, will impose a candidate on the people of Kogi East."

The comment is seen as a direct challenge to Governor Ododo, who is believed to be backing a different aspirant for the senatorial seat. Kogi East is the largest senatorial district in the state and has historically produced the state's governors under an informal power rotation arrangement.

Political analysts say the confrontation reflects the growing assertiveness of elected federal lawmakers against what they perceive as overbearing control by state governors over party structures. The Kogi APC has been dominated by a strong executive influence since the days of former Governor Yahaya Bello.

Prime Brief Media is closely following political reactions and will provide updates as the situation evolves.
