Senate orders crackdown on bandits flaunting crime cash on TikTok

Former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has stated that northern political stakeholders accepted Peter Obi as the most viable ally in the coalition against the ruling APC because unity is more critical than prolonged battles over zoning.

Speaking at a gathering of his supporters in Kano on Monday, Kwankwaso said that after extensive consultations, it became clear that Obi commands a passionate, nationwide following that cuts across ethnic and religious lines.

“The North did not lose by supporting Obi. We gained a partner who believes in equity and who understands that Nigeria's problems do not belong to one region. I am confident that when the time comes, we will all work together, including my brother Atiku,” Kwankwaso said.

His comments are seen as an attempt to calm tempers after Atiku Abubakar expressed reservations about the NDC's southern zoning. Kwankwaso's camp has signalled openness to an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, a combination that polls suggest could be formidable.

The NDC continues to consolidate, positioning itself as the main vehicle for a united opposition.
