Senate orders crackdown on bandits flaunting crime cash on TikTok

The Labour Party has issued a stark warning to aspirants seeking its platform for the 2027 general elections, declaring that any nomination forms purchased from the faction led by sacked National Chairman Julius Abure are worthless and will not be recognised.

In a statement signed by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, on Monday, the Labour Party described the forms being sold by Abure's camp as "simply useless paper, designed to defraud innocent and unsuspecting aspirants." The statement urged all aspirants to deal exclusively with the recognised leadership of the party under the chairmanship of Alhaji Lamidi Apapa.

"The authentic Labour Party has not commenced the sale of nomination forms. Any person who purchases forms from the Abure faction does so at their own risk. Those forms will not be accepted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, and the party will not recognise any candidacy arising from them," Ifoh said.

The Labour Party has been embroiled in a protracted leadership crisis since the 2023 general elections, with multiple court rulings affirming the Apapa-led leadership. However, Abure has continued to claim authority, creating confusion among supporters and aspirants.

The party called on INEC and security agencies to intervene and prevent the Abure faction from further undermining the electoral process. The 2027 elections are expected to see the Labour Party seeking to build on its strong showing in 2023.
