NIGERIAN NAVY ARRESTS FIVE IPOB/ESN SUSPECTS IN ANAMBRA

Onitsha, Anambra State – By Prime Brief Media

The Nigerian Navy has announced the arrest of five suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network, in Anambra State.

Naval spokesman Commodore Adams Aliu confirmed the arrests in a statement on Monday, stating that the suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol operation in the riverine communities of Anambra. Troops acting on intelligence intercepted a boat carrying the suspects and recovered an assortment of weapons, communication devices, and items bearing IPOB insignia.

"The suspects have been handed over to the Department of State Services for further investigation and possible prosecution. The Navy remains committed to denying criminal elements the use of our waterways," Commodore Aliu said.

The arrest comes amid an ongoing security crackdown across the South-East, where IPOB's activities have been linked to violent attacks on security personnel and facilities. The Nigerian military and police have intensified operations in the region, and authorities have repeatedly called on residents to provide credible information to security agencies.

Prime Brief Media will continue to track security and rescue efforts across the state as this story develops.
