Senate orders crackdown on bandits flaunting crime cash on TikTok

The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre has reaffirmed its commitment to the digital transformation of policing and the vigorous protection of Nigeria's cyber space against criminal elements.

The commitment was restated on Wednesday when the NPF-NCCC received a delegation from the Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association at its headquarters in Abuja. The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, represented by the Director of the Cybercrime Centre, DCP Uche Ifeanyi, said the Force is investing heavily in digital tools, capacity building, and international partnerships to stay ahead of cybercriminals.

"Cybercrime is evolving rapidly, and so must our response. The Nigeria Police Force is committed to securing the digital space, protecting businesses and individuals, and bringing cybercriminals to justice. We are building a world-class digital policing capability," DCP Ifeanyi said.

The NECA delegation, led by its Director-General, commended the Police for the progress made in combating cybercrime and called for stronger collaboration between the private sector and law enforcement agencies. The meeting discussed issues including the rising incidence of business email compromise, ransomware attacks, and the need for a robust public-private partnership for information sharing.
