Senate orders crackdown on bandits flaunting crime cash on TikTok

The aftermath of the All Progressives Congress primaries in Plateau State has been rocked by petitions and protests, with Senator Diket Plang and several other aspirants formally complaining to the party's national leadership about what they describe as widespread and brazen irregularities.

Senator Plang, who represents Plateau Central, told journalists in Jos on Thursday that no credible election was conducted in most parts of Plateau North and that results were fabricated. "Figures were arbitrarily allocated without actual voting. In many wards, delegates were not allowed to vote. This is not democracy. We have petitioned the national leadership and we expect justice," Plang said.

Several House of Representatives aspirants have also submitted petitions, alleging that consensus arrangements were imposed without consultation and that electoral materials were hijacked. The aggrieved aspirants have threatened to defect if their grievances are not addressed.

The APC in Plateau has been trying to manage internal divisions ahead of the 2027 elections, with the governorship primary expected to further test party unity. The national secretariat has acknowledged receipt of the petitions and promised to investigate.
