POLICE KILL KIDNAP GANG LEADER IN OGUN

Abeokuta, Ogun State – By Prime Brief Media

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have killed a suspected kidnapping kingpin during a fierce gun battle, in a major breakthrough against criminal networks operating in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday. She said the suspect, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was trailed to his hideout in a forested area following weeks of intelligence gathering. Upon sighting the police, the gang leader opened fire, leading to a gun duel in which he was fatally wounded.

Items recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 42 rounds of live ammunition, and charms. SP Odutola said the suspect was linked to a series of kidnappings across Ogun State, including the abduction of a prominent businessman in the Ijebu area earlier this year.

"A manhunt has been launched for other members of the gang. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station," Odutola said. The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives and reaffirmed the command's commitment to dismantling criminal networks in the state.

Prime Brief Media will continue to track security and rescue efforts across the state as this story develops.
