Senate orders crackdown on bandits flaunting crime cash on TikTok

Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has clinched the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket for Nasarawa State, emerging victorious in a primary that saw him decisively defeat former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar.

Results declared by the APC electoral committee on Friday showed that Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the Senate, polled 195,285 votes. Adamu, a former IGP who was seen as a formidable aspirant, scored 49,675 votes. The margin reflected the broad support Wadada enjoys across the state and the backing of the party establishment.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, who is completing his second term, had endorsed Wadada as his preferred successor. In his acceptance speech, Wadada thanked the governor and delegates and promised to build on the achievements of the Sule administration. "Nasarawa is on a path of growth, and we will continue that journey together," he said.

The APC in Nasarawa remains the dominant party, and Wadada's candidacy positions it strongly for the 2027 general election. The PDP is expected to mount a serious challenge, but the APC's cohesion gives it an advantage.
