President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Friday evening, touching down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 7:12 p.m. after a whirlwind diplomatic tour that took him to France, Kenya, and Rwanda.
The President was received by senior government officials, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and members of the Federal Executive Council. The three-nation tour, which began earlier in the week, was focused on strengthening economic ties, attracting foreign direct investment, and advancing Nigeria's position in continental and global affairs.
In France, President Tinubu held talks with President Emmanuel Macron on security cooperation and French investments in Nigeria's digital economy and energy sectors. In Nairobi, he addressed the Africa Forward Summit co-hosted by Kenya and France, where he called for an overhaul of the global financial architecture that penalises African borrowers. In Kigali, he was a headline speaker at the Africa CEO Forum, projecting that Nigeria will attract nearly $20 billion in FDI in 2026.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said the tour was "highly productive" and that several investment commitments were secured. The President is expected to spend the weekend in Lagos before returning to Abuja on Monday.
