Troops rescue 10 kidnap victims in Plateau and Kaduna

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued 10 kidnap victims and foiled multiple abduction attempts in Plateau and Kaduna states, the military announced on Wednesday.

In Plateau State, troops rescued a pastor and his wife who were abducted from their home in Riyom Local Government Area. The couple was found in a bandit camp and has been reunited with their family.

In Kaduna State, eight other victims were rescued in separate operations across Kajuru and Chikun LGAs. The victims included travellers and farmers.

The military said the operations were based on actionable intelligence and that troops sustained pressure on bandit hideouts. "We will not relent until all captives are freed and the bandits are neutralised," a military spokesperson said.

The rescued victims have received medical attention and are in stable condition.

Local communities have praised the troops but called for sustained operations. "We are grateful, but we need these patrols to continue daily, not just when there is a rescue," a resident said.

Prime Brief Media will continue to follow security operations in the region.
