The African Democratic Congress (ADC) held its national convention at the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, with party leaders using the platform to launch blistering attacks on the Bola Tinubu-led administration over the state of the nation.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar painted a bleak picture of the country's current state, declaring that Nigeria's economy, security, education, healthcare, and infrastructure have all collapsed under the current government. "Our economy, gone. Our sovereignty, gone. Our security, gone. Our education, gone. Our infrastructure, zero. Healthcare, gone. Now, what kind of a people are we?" Atiku said.
Atiku also expressed regret over his past political decisions, claiming he was "compelled" to join the APC when it was formed, only for the country to deteriorate to its present condition.
In an even more combative speech, ADC National Secretary and former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola described the APC's "Renewed Hope Agenda" as a "classic scam" and openly called for President Tinubu to resign, citing rising insecurity and economic hardship.
"When exactly will this hope come to fruition? The answer is simple. It is a scam... If allowed, this regime will continue shouting renewed hope into eternity. We have the duty to stop scammers from retaining power," Aregbesola declared.
Both leaders positioned the ADC as the alternative Nigerians need ahead of the 2027 general elections.
