The Kano State Police Command has announced a complete restriction of vehicular and pedestrian movement within Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. to ensure a peaceful bye-election in the affected areas.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors and comply with the directive, while security agencies have been deployed to maintain order. The bye-election is expected to be closely contested, with both the APC and the PDP fielding strong candidates.
The police have warned that anyone found violating the movement restriction will face arrest and prosecution. Security personnel have been deployed to strategic locations to prevent violence and ensure a credible electoral process.
INEC has assured voters of adequate security and the availability of necessary materials for the election.
